The game fish season is well and truly underway now in South East Queensland.  Already two tournaments have been run and billfish tagged at both.  It might end up a season to remember for all the right reasons this year.   The first cab off the rank was the Sunshine Coast Spring Shootout.  A tournamentContinue Reading

Things are starting to happen in South East Queensland and we may not have to wait until November before the light tackle fish start arriving.  Already in August the first billfish of the year trophy has gone off for the Sunshine Coast and Mooloolaba Clubs on small black marlin.  Off the Gold Coast it wentContinue Reading

I wasn’t ready to give up on the South East Queensland light tackle season until after May but unfortunately with no May bite it has officially been a very quiet light tackle season.  The only highlight was the Little Ships Ground bite off the Sunshine Coast.  Our next hope on the light tackle front willContinue Reading

Now the season is officially over and all of the trophies have been presented to winners we can look back on what was a very quiet year.  The Sunshine Coast was lucky to get an October bite of sailfish, a bite of black marline and sailfish at the Little Ships ground and another during AprilContinue Reading

We are well and truly in the doldrum months for gamefish anglers in South East Queensland.  Most people’s attentions have turned to thoughts of snapper and reef fishing rather than trolling.  The hard core gamefishers amongst us will still be out there trying for blue marlin on the shelf but I think more attention shouldContinue Reading
